“A Peruvian University is changing the world through engineering”

These Billboards Clean the Air and provide Drinking Water out of thin air

This is ingenuity in action!

Imagine living in a place where you, and your loved ones, have little to no access to clean drinking water.  A desert-like area where rainfall is barely half an inch per year, the people desperately need water, yet almost ironically, the air is super saturated with it.

Well, this is the case in Lima, Peru. UTEC, an engineering college in Peru, wanted to make an impact and send an important message. “A Peruvian University is changing the world through engineering”.  UTEC built and installed the world’s first ever billboard to take water from the air, filter it, store it, and dispense it to people in the area.

This thing literally produces drinkable water out of thin air! Within less than four months the single billboard had produced 9450 liters (about 2500 gallons) of water.
